Our approach treats every child as an individual and stimulates their creative potential through music, story telling, puppetry and play. Our aim is to develop confidence, independence, social skills and self-expression in every individual and group we work with. We whole-heartedly believe in the power of laughter and nonsense!
Mother Hen was founded by Ellie Griffiths and Alice Penny:
actress and director at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts. She balances a mixture of performing, directing Hens’ Teeth Theatre and teaching, specialising in working with children and groups with special needs. She is a proud clown doctor (Dr Wonderpants) with Theodora Children’s Trust and visits hospitals telling stories, balloon modelling, doing magic and creating silliness and laughter. Her passion lies in inspiring children’s imaginations. She's also Scotland's number one crocodile wrestling champion!
the sky in her spotty space bubble. She trained as an Actress at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London. She works in schools & nurseries across the UK enriching the curriculum with lots of fun, creative things. When she's not teaching, performing or devising children's theatre Alice can be found scrambling around the back of her wardrobe searching for Narnia. She has equal passion for inspiring children's imaginations and likes jelly-dancing. Alice thinks Ellie is cool, Ellie says that Alice is nice too but dances like a banana
Alice and Ellie work with a small, group of puppeteers, musicians, visual artists, clowns and dancers to make the kind of work that sets Mother Hen apart as a pioneering creative force for good!
